And it's here! My latest toy is a Solar Backpack from http://lumos.co.in
A more detailed review coming up soon (as soon as I'm done playing with it) but here's the first cut:
- Sleek design: checked out a bunch of backpacks before I stumbled upon this one. Being eco-conscious doesn't mean you should carry an ugly bag :-p
- Light weight - seems about the same weight as my regular backpack
- Works with indirect light - left it near a window and the battery is still charging
Next up: #ingress stress test

A perfect Ingress gear...
ReplyDeleteAmberdeep Singh if u get lost in sahara desert i.e x)
ReplyDeleteAmberdeep Singh That's the plan :-)
ReplyDeleteRico W you would need to find your phone first, wouldn't you? ;-)
Will it survive a rain shower?
ReplyDeleteSrikanth Krishnan supposed to be water resistant. If you know any rain-making ritual, we can test that out at the farm tomorrow :-p
ReplyDeleteLol. Get a sprinkler
ReplyDeleteCurious if it would be possible to replace the battery by a larger one. I would be interested to see if for example an Anker external battery works.
ReplyDeleteSrikanth Krishnan tsk tsk sprinklers are no match to the rains here.
ReplyDeleteJeroen van Pelt I want to try that too ;-) I have a 30,000 mAh that would be a perfect match for this.
ReplyDeleteWow
ReplyDeleteHold it under the shower... :p
ReplyDeleteRahul H no portals there :-p
ReplyDeleteI was suggesting for a heavy rain test there... Lol
ReplyDeleteWoop
ReplyDeletePooja Srinivas think of the shower as a unit test. Don't need portals for that.
ReplyDeleteYeah keep your phone and other powerbanks inside it for better results
ReplyDeletePooja Srinivas just hold a stick in right hand and run in circles singing hoya hoya hu hu hoya hoya, rain will come
ReplyDeleteRico W show us a live demo :-p
ReplyDeleteIndian Rain Dance
ReplyDeleteWe need proof Rico W. Make it rain in Mumbai :-D
ReplyDeleteNikhil Singh aka thewateringgod can definitely do that x)
ReplyDeleteBtw regarding that external power bank.... If not replaced, the inbuilt power bank can certainly charge the external power bank
ReplyDeleteVinit Bavishi once I load all my external battery packs, I'll have to carry my laptop in my hand ;-)
ReplyDeleteo.0
ReplyDeleteTrying to power your house Pooja Srinivas, with external battery packs ?
Akshay Bist my house is already solar powered :-p
ReplyDelete:o really?
ReplyDeleteYeah, really :-p

All that is cool but I like to sit in bath tub for 2 hours while listening to music. Does the solar thing have that much capacity? per sq inch what is power given?
ReplyDeleteRico W this is NOT a water heater :-P
ReplyDeleteIt can charge your phone/ipod for 2 hours.
Pooja Srinivas I want solar glares. So I wear it ,look cool and it charges also ;)
ReplyDeleteRico W is your bath tub on the terrace? How do you plan to charge your glares from the tub? ;-)
ReplyDeleteSyed Shoaib this is solar power! Imagine me stranded on an island, if I have this I wouldn't have to compromise on listening to music while bathing even then
ReplyDeletePooja Srinivas maybe I will turn the bathroom light on and stare at it @@
ReplyDeleteRico W from the website and my initial tests, 1 hour of exposure to the sun gives you 2 hours worth of charge. So if you are on an island, as long as you are roaming around in the sun, you should be all set.
ReplyDeletePooja Srinivas 1hr exp 2 hours charge o.O omg I am so very much tempted to get one rite away
ReplyDeleteSyed Shoaib But my ops are mostly evening or night :-(
ReplyDeleteRico W doooooo it doooooooooooooo it!
ReplyDeleteSyed Shoaib it already has been Ingressified or rather Enlightened. Check my next post (or the first photo in this album).
Costs 5k and worth every bit of it :-)
Rico W Syed Shoaib the backpack has a 2200 mAh battery pack so you can use the stored energy after you "exhaust" the day light. You could also charge your other battery packs from the embedded one. There might be some loss of charge during the transition but should be better than no charge at all.
ReplyDeleteRico Wwait for a lunar charger to come out
