Since Google will not advertise or promote their highly convenient technologies, I think users have to do their own promotion. Winston Fernandes you get a credit every time someone replies to your message. The total credits you can earn per day is 50 and this also resets every day.
Also worth noting - "To prevent abuse, any Gmail user who sends an excessive number of SMS messages from Gmail, without getting any responses in return, will be blocked from sending further SMS messages."
You spend 1 credit per message you send so if your balance is below 50 credits, you will replenish your balance everytime someone replies to your message.
Zachary Yaro I think it uses a unique phone number for these chats. I was going to test it out with my GV number but I have to wait for 7 days for the DND change on my number to kick in!
