Check out gorgeous panoramas from people like you, many of them shared on Google Maps
While I can't yet tell you about my other project at Google, I'm excited to share with you one of the projects I've been helping out with: *photo sphere*.
With supported Android devices*, you can take street-view-like 360 degree panoramas, and then optionally share these with friends, or even share them with the whole world on Google Maps.
You can read this Google blog post from earlier this year for more details:
http://google-latlong.blogspot.com/2012/10/add-your-photo-sphere-images-to-google.html
...and feel free to also check out the fun and often inspiring posts and communities surrounding photo spheres right here on Google+
https://plus.google.com/s/photo%20sphere
(some great communities to join!)
*Right now, supported devices include the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10, but enterprising souls can also make panos from their own camera or camera phone and add relevant panorama metadata using this tool: http://photo-sphere.appspot.com/
P.S. -- Yeah, I'm a little slow in posting this. Been so busy with work and non-work that it totally slipped my mind that I hadn't posted about this before :o
