Do you have references to that book? My wife recently bought a watercolor kit (it was essentially free with some other art supplies that she needed), be she doesn't really know where to start, and what you did looks really nice.
I think it might have been on TV where I saw it. But basically they just took a toothbrush and dipped the tip of the bristles in the paint and then as they pulled a thumb across the bristles, the paint "sprays" off in little tiny flecks onto the canvas. I'm sure there's a name for the technique but maybe it's just standard practice.
Ah yes, I've tried that before. The main problem with that is making sure the flecks land where you want them to :-D
The atomizer method involves spraying plain water on the spot where you need the misty effect. Based on the type of the spray, you should get a weathered effect and be able to lift off the color from the paper.
these are fun and uncomplicated. If these are from first lessons ... wow!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue :-) Cathy makes it really simple to get started.

Lee Bruner that's an awesome pic :-D Some people recommend using the atomizer for the misty effect. Haven't tried that yet.
ReplyDeleteYes it is, Terrill has a great eye. Seems like I've seen someone also use a toothbrush for misting somewhere.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a link to that?

Oh, I see. Hmm, maybe there's a way to mask areas to prevent overspray of the, well, "spray". hehe
