Google Drive for your Mac and PC syncs files between your computer and Drive, so changes you make on one device show up everywhere. An update is rolling out now that includes a couple of new features aimed to give you better control of how Drive works for you.

For starters, there’s a new menu that provides upload status of file as they sync and allows you to open recently synced items. When you hover over a recently synced file, you’ll see an icon that saves you steps by letting you share it right from the menu.

If you’re like most people, you use your computer for checking email or browsing the Web, but also for streaming YouTube videos or Google Play Music. Either way, you probably want your bandwidth going to what’s most important to you at the time. Now, you can choose to limit how much bandwidth Drive consumes for those times when you need extra for something else. You can do that in the Advanced section of the Preferences menu.

This rollout is in progress and should be complete over the next several days. If you don’t have the Drive apps, visit http://g.co/getdrive for the latest versions.
