Marc Levoy, professor of computer science at Stanford who has played a key role on the Glass project at Google, will be giving an illustrated talk on "Google Glass and the Future of Photography," sponsored by the Photography Committee at the National Press Club next Monday, May 12 at noon.
Google Glass is one of the most interesting (and controversial) technological innovations to come along in recent years. Its use, particularly its camera function, raises a whole host of technological, social, ethical, and privacy issues.
Professor Levoy, who is also an accomplished photographer, teaches computer graphics, digital photography, and the science of art at Stanford. At Google, in addition to his role on Google Glass, he was co-designer of the Google book scanner; he launched Google's Street View project.
This is a ticketed event, open to the public - free for Press Club members and one guest, $5 for non-members. See http://press.org/events/google-glass-and-future-photography for more information and to register.
