Finally got it! This is the commercial version of the #aakash tablet.

The upgraded version (more ram, capacitative screen) costs about $75. There's also one with a resistive screen available for $60. Will post a detailed review over the weekend.

Off to test it out now :-)

  1. So far so good :-) The screen's very responsive and the couple of games I tried work well. It's already on ICS so I don't have to upgrade it. It's also lighter than the other sub $100 tabs I've tried. Waiting for it to get charged fully so I can test the battery life.

I've tagged the rest of my reviews with  #budgettabs  to make it easier to compare.

  2. No HDMI port - has a micro-USB port, audio out and an SD card slot.

  3. Yes, it did. The first version of the tab used Froyo and I guess they continued to use the same pic for the newer devices too :-D

  4. Bibin Mathew Joseph was the one you used the Aakash version or UBIslate? Trying to find out if they made any major changes for the commercial version.

  5. Unbelievable, it works! In your review, do talk about the procurement process as well.

  6. Of course! Apart from some confusion on the delivery dates, it went pretty well. The customer support has certainly improved. The last time we pre-ordered, there was absolutely no information for months and then they just scrapped the product. This time we just had to wait for 2-3 weeks (will confirm the order date).
