Last week, we travelled to Minnesota to pilot two new programs for students: a classroom mentoring project in which students develop technology solutions to real-world problems with help from Google engineers via Google+ Hangouts, and an entrepreneurship training with students from the Minneapolis STEP-UP program, which places students from lower-income communities as summer interns at businesses. We hope by partnering with local organizations we can help give students the inspiration and skills for a future career in technology, and help Minnesota reach its goal to become one of the country’s top five technology states by 2020.
